Online Drivers Education Training Course

How It Works

Online Driver Education Course (Cost: $140)

About Online Driver Education Program:

  • This program consists of at least thirty (30) hours of instructions and includes components about alcohol safety, drug abuse awareness, aggressive driving, distracted driving, pedestrian and bicycle safety, handicapped parking, fuel-efficient driving practices, motorcycle awareness, and organ and tissue donation awareness as required by law.
  • Must be at least 15 years and 6 months of age to take the online driver education course. All individuals who elect to take the classroom component of the driver education course online must take the online course through a DMV-licensed driver training school. Home-schooled students are exempt from this requirement.
  • In order to benefit from the course, you must be able to work independently and be comfortable with using a computer.

Registering for the Online Course:

  • Once you've registered with the driving school and made the payment, you will receive an Email from the driving school.
  • The Email will contain the link to the online course.
  • Be sure to check your "Spam" or "Junk" folder if you don't receive the email within an hour.
  • You are now ready to begin the online course as instructed.

Steps to Login to Begin the Online Course:

  • Once you receive the Email, click on the link provided and register to begin the course.
  • The course is completely self-paced and you'll complete on your own time, with or without feedback from the driving school.
  • Apple Driving School may contact you if your progress is not sufficient.
  • You as a student are required to complete all sections or modules of the course and complete end of the section or module tests. In case you do not pass any test, you'll be prompted to review the materials again and repeat the test. This process can be repeated several times until you are successful.

Taking the Final Exam.

  • After you have completed the entire course, you'll need to come to the driving school and you must bring the following to the test site. Apple Driving School will provide a computer for testing.
  • Photo identification (DMV-issued identification card, school-issued identification card, valid passport or military identification).
  • Proof of completion of the online driver education course.
  • A completed "Parental Consent for Online Driver Education Examination" (dts62), if you are under the age of 18.
  • Proof of completion of the additional 90-minute parent or teen course if you are under age 18 and live in Planning District 8 (counties of Arlington, Fairfax, Loudoun, and Prince William; and cities of Alexandria, Fairfax, Manassas and Manassas Park). If you do not have the 90-minute parent teen course, please contact Apple Driving School in advance and we will arrange that at the driving school for you.
  • The final exam is closed books, closed notes, and you are not allowed to use other internet browsers while taking the test.
  • The student takes the final examination online in the presence of the licensed instructor.
  • The course grades the test and reveals the results upon completion. If the student passes the course, the instructor will receive the certificate of completion for that student. This student may now continue with the Behind The Wheel portion of the course.
  • In case a student does not pass the final exam, they may not retake the final exam on the same day. They are required to come the following day or from there on, any other day to take another attempt. Final exam will never be given to the same student twice in a day.
